Debussy (1862-1918)
Description:
Beethoven's 250th anniversary! Beethoven, the "Sage of Music," will celebrate the 250th anniversary of his birth in 2020. His symphonies, concertos, piano sonatas, string quartets, and other works are still loved as treasures of mankind. However, only a few of his works may be heard often. There are still many works that remain unknown to us, including vocal pieces, songs, chamber music, and Beethoven's handwritten notes. The 90-CD box on Naxos is the most complete collection of Beethoven's works available today, including world premiere recordings. It includes many fragments (fragments and sketches) that Beethoven never completed, as well as rare arrangements by other composers. The works for voice and orchestra have been newly recorded under Segerstam's direction to cover them all. The contents of the box contains valuable sound recordings from Naxos and other labels without duplication of titles (although there are differences in performance style), a lineup that only the catalog-oriented Naxos can offer. This box contains many world premiere recordings of fragmentary works (fragments and sketches). Not only works without work numbers (WoO), but also Hess numbers and Biamonti numbers based on the latest research, and songs that Beethoven attempted to revise many times are included.・4 Bagatelles, WoO 213: No. 3 in A flat major (ed. A. W. Holsbergen, b. 1957)・Sketch in A major, Hess 60 (1818) (transcribed by A. Schmitz, 1893-1980)・Pastorella in C major, Bia. 622 (1815) (transcribed by F. Rovelli, b. 1979)・Piano Trio in F minor, Bia. 637 (1816) (fragments transcribed by N. Marston, b. 1958)・Die Ruinen von Athen, Op. 113 ('The Ruins of Athens'(アテネの廃墟)) (1811) - of version with narration・Opferlied, Hess 145 (sketch of 1st setting, WoO 126, version for voice and piano) (1796)・6 Songs, Op. 48: No. 3. Vom Tode (1st version) (1798-99)・Ich kusse Sie, WoO 169, Hess 250 (1816) (arr. T. Holmes for voice and choir), etc. - Supervision was provided by Dutch composer Willem Holsbergen, head of the "the Unheard Beethoven" project. Together with producer Mark Zimmer, he has thoroughly explored rare and forgotten works, reconstructing some of the pieces himself and breathing new life into these works. Includes over 1,550 tracks and a 136-page booklet. The quartet is performed by a number of Naxos' leading artists, including Drahos, Segerstam, Vladar, Yando, Giltburg, Kriegel, Kodaly Quartet, Takako Nishizaki, Kazunori Seo, and others. Includes a list of the recorded works and performers in Japanese. Complete limited edition. Naxos Japan
