Blaze, formed in 2006 by a group of classmates from Western Canada High School in Calgary, Canada, and currently based in Montreal, has completed its third album. The group had been a four-piece until their first album, but after a member left, they formed a three-piece band and released their second album, "Flourish // Perish," in 2013. The album showed a revolutionary evolution, dispelling the animal-collective-following image of the first album. The new release, "Deep In The Iris," is a further evolution of the same radical sensibility. The album is said to tackle heavy themes involving pornography, abuse, and slut-shaming, and continues to incorporate electronic textures and three-dimensional track-making, but the band's balance and combinations are much more refined, as this is only their second album with a three-piece lineup. The balance of the band and the combination of the three members are much more refined.The space is utilized, while atmospheric synths and effects, sentient piano phrases, and effectual vocal loops drift in and out, and the small, percussive beats and Rafael's powerful, majestic vocals, which have become even more expressive, are vibrant. The eclecticism of electronica and post-rock, the floating sensation of dream pop, the stoicism of electronic music, and the forward-thinking nature of art/experimental rock all come together to create a dramatic sound. The evolution of melody, development, and construction has also been enhanced, making this album a masterpiece at this point in time.
