The long-awaited second release in the series of live recordings by the solitary pianist Yoichi Tajiri! The newly discovered Beethoven: Symphony No. 3 "Hero" and the previously released overture are coupled. This release has undergone careful remastering. After graduating from Toho Gakuen School of Music, Yoichi Tajiri studied under Idylle Billette, and in 1996, he began performing the complete works of each composer. Since 2000, he has been introducing his own arrangements of orchestral works into a series of solo programs, establishing a new genre that goes far beyond the boundaries of ordinary piano concerts. The Beethoven Symphony No. 3 "Hero" and the overtures to "Coriolan" and "Egmont" were recorded live at the Yoichi Tajiri Beethoven Symphony Concert Series held in 2011-12, with the No. 3 being the first release and the overture being released on OTTAVA RECORDS in 2020. The overture is the same sound source as that released by OTTAVA RECORDS in 2020 (OTTAVA-10004/ Discontinued). For this reissue, the recording was carefully re-mastered by renowned recording engineer Kosei Fujita, removing as much as possible of the unwanted venue noise that was present in the original release.In his liner notes, Yoichi Tajiri describes the performance of No. 3 as follows. The work's uplifting energy rises unceasingly toward the finale, but this trance-like feeling is not fanatical, but in a kind of healthy, moralistic world. In other words, a healthy mind is inherent in the tremendously uplifting music. I feel that this is the underlying power of Beethoven's art. Yoichi Tajiri (piano) studied in Europe after graduating from Toho Gakuen School of Music. After graduating from Toho Gakuen School of Music, he studied in Europe as Idil Billet's only disciple. He has performed the complete piano sonatas of Beethoven, Mozart, and Brahms, as well as the complete piano works of Schumann, in a series of recitals (ticles) by each composer, attracting international attention. In the genre of original and solo arrangements of orchestral works, he has completed performances of the complete symphonies of Beethoven and Brahms. His repertoire also includes "Unfinished," "New World," "Pathetique," and many others. He has also arranged and performed piano concertos by Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, Schumann, and Brahms for solo piano.In addition to these works, he has arranged numerous operatic overtures, chamber music, and songs for solo piano and incorporated them into his own programs.
