Description:

This album contains a lot of great guitar playing of Elizabeth Cotton, an American folk treasure. Elizabeth Cotton (1895-1987) is an American folk treasure. Many people may first think of "Folk Songs and Instrumentals with Guitar," which includes the famous song "Freight Train. Folk Songs" is a masterpiece of the century, with beautiful, distinctive, and technical guitar playing and a simple, richly flavored voice. Elizabeth Cotton is a black blues/folk singer/songwriter/guitarist/banjo player from North Carolina, who began singing at the age of 8 and taught herself how to play guitar at the age of 11, using money she earned herself.Normally, he would have had to replace the guitar strings backwards, but since he learned to play on a right-handed guitar, he developed an unusual two-finger style of playing. This style later came to be known as "cotton picking. She also began composing songs in her early teens, and her famous folk song "Freight Train" was already written during this period. Elizabeth, who had created a unique picking style and a famous song at an early age, became so busy with her daily life that she forgot about music as she grew up. However, while working in a department store, she happened to become acquainted with the Seeger family of folk fame, and she was assigned to work as a maid for the family. During her daily life, she was inspired by the Seeger family and rekindled her interest in music. She picked up the guitar again. Elizabeth was already in her 60s when she made her debut as a musician, thanks to the encouragement of Mike Seeger, who was impressed by her playing. The result was "Folk Songs and Instrumentals with Guitar" (Rice CD: FLR-285/LP: FLR-4414, originally released in 1958), an immortal masterpiece that has left its mark on the American folk scene. This one also included the famous song "Freight Train," which was later covered by PPM, Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, and others. (1/2)
