The Austrian baritone Florian Bösch, internationally recognized for his Lied interpretations and trusted by the master Nicholas Arnoncourt, and Malcolm Martineau, one of Britain's leading song accompanists, both of whom have released highly acclaimed albums on LINN, will perform a collection of Brahms' and Wolff's Lieder. The two have released highly acclaimed albums of Brahms and Wolff songs. Wolff, who is regarded as the greatest of German Lieder composers and was himself a Wagner devotee, is said to have harshly criticized Brahms, who was considered a classicist and skilled in various musical techniques, but both left behind wonderful songs that sublimated deep emotional swings and existential philosophical questions musically, The theme of this album is to explore contrasts and similarities by juxtaposing their works.
