The Kaleidoscope Chamber Collective, formed in 2017 by Tom Poster and Elena Urioste, is an ensemble that has established a reputation for introducing unfamiliar repertoire and interesting programming. This ambitious program, "Brahms & Contemporaries," juxtaposes Brahms' piano quartets with works by lesser-known composers of the same period. Following the first collection, which featured works by Le Beau, this second collection features the piano quartets of Louise Elit-Viarde. Louise Elite-Vialde is a French singer, pianist, and composer. She was born in Paris, the eldest daughter of Pauline Viardo-Garcia and Louis Viardot. She became acquainted with music at an early age, and after working as a singer, with the help of Clara Schumann, she became a voice teacher at the Hoch Conservatory in Frankfurt, and as a composer, she left more than 300 works, including this piano quartet published in 1883. Titled "Im Sommer (In the Summer)," it is a narrative work with a title for each of its four movements.On the other hand, Brahms' Piano Quartet No. 3 was completed in 1875, more than 20 years after the first sketch was made in 1855, but he himself was not satisfied with the finished product.
