The young and brilliant Roman Borissov depicts "Dialogue with the Past" with his outstanding expressive power. In 2022, at the age of 19, Roman Borisov from Russia was the youngest contestant in the Kissingen International Piano Olympiad (Kissinger Klavier Olymp), known as a gateway to success for young pianists, and won the competition with flying colors. In 2023, he was featured in ALPHA's "Mozart by the Next Generation of Soloists" series, where he gave a wonderful performance of Concertos Nos. 11 and 13. This album features five pieces from the 16 "Renaissance" pieces, in which Godowsky, known for his superb technique, freely arranged works by composers such as Rameau and Corelli; a work by Franck that is said to be a homage to the great Bach; a work by Rachmaninov, a great pianist in Borisov's homeland, who completed his last work in America, where he was exiled; and a work by Corelli, a piano piece by Rachmaninov, who was a great pianist in Borisov's homeland. The program continues with a piano piece, Variations by Corelli, which was the last piano piece completed by Rachmaninoff in exile in the United States. The program is also reminiscent of a nested structure in which the young generation of today's Borissov further dialogues with these works.The pieces are full of pianistic charm and difficulty, but Borissov not only handles them with a high level of technical skill, but also draws out the charm of the works with a fresh expression that seems to well up from a wellspring.
