Description:
Like Korngold and Schoenberg, who were active at the same time, Richard Stähl was a composer who was forced to flee his homeland by the Nazis and fled to the United States. Despite his turbulent life, he lived a long life (93 years) and left behind a vast body of works, including seven symphonies, chamber music, songs, choral music, and piano pieces. This third collection includes three works composed in 1942. He wrote about 20 works that year, all of which retain the beautiful sounds of his Viennese period, especially the Second Symphony, which is reminiscent of Mahler's works. According to the commentary on the original recording, it is possible that this piece is an adaptation of a work written in memory of the late Mahler. Naxos Japan
