Nemorino, a naive peasant youth, is in love with the beautiful Adina, the daughter of a wealthy farmer in his village. But when a military platoon leader, the dapper Sergeant Bercole, shows up in the village, he seduces Adina and promises to marry her. Nemorino tries to win Adina's heart back with a "love potion" recommended by the mountaineer Dulcamara. ......The opera has become one of the most popular repertoire at the opera house since its premiere at Covent Garden in 2007. The ever-renowned Nadine Sierra makes an impressive debut as Adina in Donizetti's "The Sacrament of Love," directed by Roland Perry, which has been a popular repertoire item at the opera house since its premiere at the Covent Garden in 2007. Armenian lyric tenor Liparit Avetisyan, who is in great demand in opera houses in Europe and the U.S., gives a fine performance as Nemorino, a young man who has a secret crush on Adina. Bryn Terfel, who is a true master of the role of Dulcamara, gives a deeply enjoyable performance, and the performance is full of highlights.Born in Rome in 1984, Sesto Quatrini, who studied at the Metropolitan Opera in 2015/16 as assistant to Fabio Luisi and has since focused on conducting Italian opera, makes a double debut at Covent Garden with Nadine Sierra in this production.
