This is a sequel to the first collection (RES10299), a project to present the songs of Vaughan Williams and his student Elizabeth McConkie, whose 150th birthday will be celebrated in 2022. The songs included in this collection are "The House of Life" (first performed in 1940), a collection of songs on verses by Rossetti that represents Vaughan Williams' early years, and "Four Last Songs," a collection of songs from his later years, written between 1954 and 1958. McConkie's songs are also largely unpublished, having been composed between his studies with Vaughan Williams in the mid-1920s and his devotion to the British modernist aesthetic in the 1960s and 1970s. In this work, tenor singer James Geer and pianist Ronald Woodley again perform in a breathtaking performance that is the product of a long-standing and continuing partnership. Naxos Japan
