Gwendolyn Meyssin is a native of the Netherlands who has released "West Side Story" (ORC100145) and "Flame" (ORC100075), a collection of French violin works, on ORCHID CLASSICS. This time, she has produced a remarkable album that sheds light on the family ties and teacher-student relationship surrounding Henryk Wieniawski, one of the most famous violinists of 19th century Poland. The album opens with "Legend," one of Henryk's most famous works, followed by works by his brother Juseph, a pianist, his student Isay, his student Enescu, and finally a rare work by Henryk's daughter, Irene Regine Wieniawski, who worked under the pen name "Poldowski. In particular, Ysaÿe's string quintet is a rare world premiere recording, having just been premiered in 2022. On the album, Meyssin's fellow musicians, all excellent players, perform a wide range of works, from violin pieces to piano pieces and songs. Naxos Japan
