The King of Sicily marries Griselda, a poor girl from a poor family, and punishes her harshly in order to test her fidelity. Griselda, who has endured this severe ordeal... "Griselda" is the last opera in existence, composed by the master of the Neapolitan musical school, Alessandro Scarlatti, based on a libretto by Apostolo Zeno, based on an episode of "The Story of Griselda" in Boccaccio's "The Decameron". It is the last opera in existence. Scarlatti was ahead of his time in establishing a form of close-up of emotions and feelings with recitative and aria, and left a significant mark on the expansion of the expressive form of Baroque opera. In this performance, the excellent singing team led by the famous soprano Carmela Remigio and the countertenor Raffaele Pae, is beautifully supported by the lively performance of La Lilla di Orfeo led by the Greek-born conductor of ancient music, Georghe Petrou.
