Description:
A disc of motets and songs by German Renaissance composer Ludwig Semple performed by Singer Poor and Ensemble Leonesse. Senfle was known for joining the court orchestra of Emperor Maximilian I's Augsburg as a boy and eventually becoming a pupil and assistant to Heinrich Isak. This album features his works written in Latin and German, and offers a taste of his many compositions, which are rich in melody and lyricism, while following the archaic forms of the 15th century. The Singer Poor is a very popular German vocal ensemble founded in 1991 by former members of the Regensburg Domspatzen. Originally consisting of five members, the ensemble added a soprano in 1994 and now has six members and guest singers to accompany the music, performing a wide range of repertoire from classical works to folk and pop songs.
