Description:
The story of Aladdin, also by Kuhlau, Goeze, and Nielsen, based on C.F.E. Hohnemann's first recording of an operatic version of "Aladdin and the Magic Lamp" from "One Thousand and One Nights". The play of the same name by Danish playwright Adam Ehrenschreier (1779-1850) was a popular work with music by Kuhlau and Goeze, and was performed as incidental music for plays and other productions. The first performance of Hoenemann's opera, which was composed in 1888 from a libretto by Benjamin Fezzasen, was a romantic music with an oriental atmosphere, but unfortunately, the first performance was a disaster due to lack of preparation. Unfortunately, the premiere was a flop due to lack of preparation, but the overture was so popular that Nielsen, who later wrote music for a play of the same name, conducted it, and it has survived in the Danish concert repertoire to this day. Hohnemann revised the work, and when it was revived in 1902, it was an overwhelming success, with 18 sold-out performances, but it was not performed at the Royal Danish Opera after 1903.In this world premiere recording, the world premiere of Aladdin and the Princesses Gurnare, conducted by the master conductor Schoenwandt and featuring a cast of Danish singers, the adventures of Aladdin and the Princesses Gurnare are colorfully depicted in this recording.
