Description:
The setting is 18th century Seville, Spain. Leonora, daughter of the Marquis of Castrava, and Don Alvaro, who is of Incan royalty, are secretly in love. When they attempt to elope, the Marquis disapproves. Don Alvaro throws away his pistol to show his nonresistance, and it goes off, unfortunately hitting the Marquis. The two men flee, leaving the Marquis to curse his daughter and die. Leonora's brother, Don Carlo, pursuing Alvaro with a vengeance, meets Don Alvaro on a battlefield in Italy after an itinerant journey, and without knowing his true identity, the two men form a strong friendship. Don Carlo saves the life of Don Alvaro, who is wounded in battle, and discovers that Don Alvaro is the one who killed his father, the Marquis, and seduced his sister.... Although premiered in St. Petersburg in 1862, it was not well received due to its complex plot and gruesome ending. In June 2021, a new production of "La Forza del Destino" at the Florence Festival in May, was performed by the Catalonian theater group La Fra delses Musicales. In June 2021, a new production of "The Power of Fate" at the Florence May Festival attracted much attention for its innovative direction by Carles Padrissa, a founding member of La Fura dels Baus, a Catalonian theater group.The story takes place in the distant past, in 1759, the near future (2222), and the far future (3333), and the characters, as members of the human race at the mercy of an irresistible cosmic providence (the power of fate), take part in the story as time travelers. The three leading roles are played by Saioa Hernandez, who sings with a beautiful and expressive voice, Roberto Aronica, a renowned tenor who has performed in opera houses around the world, and Amartovshin Enkhbert from Mongolia, who makes his Florentine debut with a strong presence, and is supported by The supporting singers are Annalisa Stroppa (Preziosilla) and Ferruccio Furlanetto (Father Guardiano).
