Description:

A series of masterful performances by elite choral groups that are spreading their wings around the world. This is the power of the French musical world! France has produced not only soloists who are active on a daily basis, but also many top-class and important groups in orchestras and operas. Even if we look only at choirs, there are many groups that deserve attention. In recent years alone, the names of ensembles that clearly stand out from the crowd, such as Axenthus, which has made remarkable achievements in modern and contemporary works, Pygmalion, which is active in the field of ancient music, and Diabolus in Musica, come to mind one after another. On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Fondation Betancourt-Schlair, which has supported the French choral world from behind the scenes to the present, Alpha, a label that has been instrumental in promoting the country's musical activities in terms of recordings, has produced a unique anthology featuring a selection of recent notable recordings by important groups. The label has produced a unique anthology of recordings by some of the most important groups in recent years, including Christie and Niquet, who have contributed greatly to the revival of baroque opera; the Belgian Namur Chamber Choir, which has played a leading role and guest roles in the French-speaking repertoire of ancient music; Alarcon from Argentina, which has brought a new dimension to their music; Elabedian, which has deep connections with the composer Oana; and the Fondation de la Chambre de Paris, a group of young singers who have been active in the Parisian music scene for many years. The choir of Notre Dame Cathedral, which has been decorating daily life in Paris with its high standard of choral singing, and Nicole Corti, a female choral conductor known for her excellent performances with various choral groups...there is no doubt that the pleasure of music appreciation will be multiplied by following the choral groups in this album. The pleasure of listening to the music is sure to be amplified many times over by following the choirs on this disc. This is an excellent project that allows us to see how the field of choral music, which is often left out of the focus of music appreciation, has expanded into a world that is worth following on its own. The list of choral groups that have received awards from the Betancourt-Schlair Foundation in the booklet is also well worth a look. An analog version (ALPHA853) will be released at the same time.
