Here is a video recording of the 2017 revival of Scottish-born director David McVicar's classic production of "The Magic Flute" at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. McVicar's unorthodox and unorthodox stage design uses beautiful colors and contrasts to fantastically depict the world of darkness and light in this production. In addition, this revival production adds more theatrical touches to the characters' performances and dialogues, and succeeds in further refining "The Magic Flute" as a "song play. The Queen of the Night is played by the remarkable soprano Xavine Deuvier. The clear and superbly crafted singing of Xavine Douvielle contrasts well with the rich expression of Mika Calles, the bass with a beautiful voice, who plays Zarathustro.
