The Dover Quartet, formed by young American players, won the 2013 Banff International String Quartet Competition, and began its international career as the first ever quartet-in-residence at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. The quartet has released two CDs on the Cedille label, Mozart's String Quartets and Quintets (CDR90000167) and "String Quartets of the 20th Century" (CDR90000173), which includes works by Ullmann, Shostakovich, and others, and has received high praise for their sharp performances. This time, they will perform Beethoven's complete string quartets. The quartet has performed the complete works in concert before, most notably in the famous Beethoven series at the University at Buffalo, which began in 1955, following the famous string quartets of Budapest, Guarneri, and Cleveland.
