In January 2021, the master clavecin player Justin Taylor successfully completed a tour of Japan after a quarantine period amidst the spread of a new coronavirus infection, and has been recognized in France and other European countries for his high-profile performance. The new album "Rameau's Family" is a new release by this new generation of genius, who has achieved success at the Bruges International Competition for Old Music, and many of the albums he has steadily released on the ALPHA label have been highly acclaimed in France and abroad. As known from "Rameau's Nephews," a dialogue-like essay by Diderot, a well-known Enlightenment thinker, Rameau had several musicians in his family. The works are also included. The program also includes works by Taplet, an important keyboard musician of the late 18th century, and Debussy's works using a famous piano instrument of the late 19th century, making the album even more interesting and multi-layered (the commentary is written by the performers themselves).The clavecin is an 18th century instrument from the Château de l'Assas in southern France, famous for being a favorite of the late Scott Ross. The historical piano is an original from the Musical Instrument Museum collection at the Cité de la Musique in Paris. The beautiful sound and spatial resonance that makes you fall in love with it are clearly recorded by Hugues Deschaux, a master technician from the early days of ALPHA, and convey the flavor of the music that rises from Taylor's natural state, along with its airiness.
