Oscar da Silva (1870-1958) was born in Portugal. In 1892, he went to Germany to study at the Leipzig Conservatory, where he was highly praised by Clara Schumann. In 1930, he emigrated to Brazil, where he stayed for about 20 years, finally returning to Portugal in 1951, and in 1954, he rebuilt his residence in his familiar home of Leça da Palmeira, where he lived the rest of his life. His works not only show the influence of Chopin and Rachmaninoff, but also the atmosphere of Portuguese folk song, Fado, in his slow and relaxed compositions, which will tickle the listener's fancy.
