Description:
For a long time after J.S. Bach's "Suite for Unaccompanied Cello," composed in the early 18th century, no significant works for solo cello were written. In the 20th century, however, masterpieces in this field emerged one after another. The first of these was Kodaly's "Sonata for Unaccompanied Cello," with a playing time of over 30 minutes. Müller-Schott calls this piece an "Everest," a solitary work with beauty in its severity. Müller-Schott will also present his first solo cello work, the "Cadenza," which has "influenced me over the years," as well as a number of unique unaccompanied cello works by Hindemith, Prokofiev, Henze, Casals, and Crumb. The album title "CelloUnlimited" is aptly translated as "Cello Beyond the Limitations of the Cello. Naxos Japan
