Description:
This is a collection of works by 1970 Finnish composer Perttu Haapanen. He studied composition at the Sibelius Academy and graduated in 2002, and has been active as a freelance composer. Since then, he has been releasing ambitious works one after another. This album contains three works, including the recently composed "Flute Concerto," and offers a variety of his works under the direction of Hannu Lintu. Compulsion Island" was commissioned by the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra and is a dramatic piece with rich, multi-layered sounds. The entire piece has an undulating sound and a sudden roaring sound that is impressive. The "Flute Concerto" is an interesting piece that incorporates two different pieces of music in a single movement. Composed for the Musica Nova Festival in 2006, "Lady's Room" also uses a variety of texts and requires a wide range of vocal techniques. It is a good example of Haapanen's ability.Flute soloist Yuiku Koyama was born in 1986. He is currently the principal of the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra. Naxos Japan
