Description:
[An Astonishingly Star-Studded Lineup! A Gala Concert for All Music Fans] The music festival held each summer in the Swiss ski resort town of Verbier celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2018. The Verbier Festival is known for attracting renowned artists every year, but the lineup for this anniversary concert is particularly spectacular. Starting with the opening “Brandenburg Concerto No. 3,” led by Zuckerman, the performers’ individual artistic expressions synergize to create truly vibrant music. The lineup of pianists was equally impressive; the performance of “William Tell,” featuring no fewer than 16 masterful pianists, was truly spectacular! The orchestra—composed of elite young musicians selected from aspiring musicians around the world—was also outstanding. The program, curated by Koncz—a cellist with the Berlin Philharmonic who also performs with The Philharmonics—included a medley featuring Frest’s clarinet solo and Kvasthof singing “Begin the Beginning,” interspersed with the “Champagne Song” from the finale of the opera *Die Fledermaus* finale—“The Champagne Song”—featuring a medley that includes a clarinet solo by Fresto and Kwasthof’s rendition of “Begin the Beguine,” all performed magnificently without a conductor. The highlight was a special lineup featuring many renowned musicians joining the orchestra for a spirited performance of the *The Bat* overture conducted by Gergiev. Then, as an encore, the fanfare from *William Tell* resounds once more, and this time, nearly all the artists who hadn’t joined the orchestra—starting with the pianists—take the stage together… You’ll have to watch to see what happens next. Yuja Wang’s expression—one of sheer, unbridled joy—is particularly striking. This is a magnificent film that captures a truly unforgettable moment: world-class artists elevating the music while paying tribute to one another, weaving a precious experience found nowhere else.
