Description:
Les Moufattis, a group of talented musicians from Belgium, a country of ancient music, has recorded Bach's works after a series of noteworthy discoveries of secret pieces. But as one would expect from Les Moufattis, the project is not a simple one. Bach's "organ concertos" are famous for the arrangements that the young composer made for himself on his own organ in order to learn the style of concertos by Italian composers such as Vivaldi (......), but this disc is completely different from them. Following the example of Bach, who often rearranged the music of church cantatas and other concertos he had composed, this disc contains four new concertos for solo organ, string orchestra, and basso continuo, based on overtures and arias from cantatas that include solo organ. He also arranged three Sinfonias with solo organ "in the style of Bach" based on the opening chorus of the cantata and the overture with solo instrumentation (details of the arrangements are given in the commentary). The result is a composition reminiscent of Handel's Organ Concerto, but with a sound that is definitely Bachian.Barthes Jacobs, who has proven his skills as a keyboardist of ancient music in numerous masterpieces, has a free touch that intermingles with the spontaneous sound production of Les Mouffatti, conducted by Ryo Terakobe.
