Nicolas de Grigny represented the organ music of the French Baroque along with Coupland and Marchand. Although he was expected to have a long career as a prodigious organ virtuoso, he died at the age of only 31, and his works are known only from a collection of organ pieces published in 1699 as "Volume 1. A series of recordings made by contemporary organ master André Izoard, who died in 2016, using a historic organ from 1714, have been recorded by the organist, and are available for purchase on the website of the organist's studio.
