This marks her debut album on the prestigious label 4AD, and the first single, “GetAwayFromMe (IThinkI’llLoveYouSoon),” has been released along with a visualizer. About TheGem “I want to love and be loved. But I also want to be free... This tension has been a central question in my life,” says Jacklyn. This is also the theme that runs through TheGem. After moving from Sydney to Melbourne in 2017, Jacklyn discovered a small bar on a backstreet in Collingwood. It was the kind of place where a band would push a dining table aside and play a live set in a corner of the floor. Although she didn’t know a soul in the city, she wanted to make it her home, so she began frequenting the spot, pushing herself out of her comfort zone. —That pub was called TheGem. Eight years later, with three critically acclaimed solo albums to her name—Don’t Let the Kids Win (2016), Crushing (2019), and PREPLEASURE (2022)—Jacqueline was about to begin work on her fourth.
