The popular instrumental jazz band, Bad Bad Not Good, has released a series of three EPs, "Mid Spiral", in a single compilation on "XL Recordings"! Bad Bad Not Good, the popular instrumental jazz band, has released three EPs in a row, "Mid Spiral: Chaos", "Mid Spiral: Order", and "Mid Spiral: Growth", in a single compilation on XL Recordings! Mid Spiral: Chaos", "Mid Spiral: Order", and "Mid Spiral: Growth". In early 2024, Bad Bad Not Good was full of creative energy. Fresh off an international tour and a series of sessions with artists such as Daniel Caesar, Charlotte Day Wilson, Reggie, Baby Rose, Artur Velokai, and Turnstile, the Canadian trio of Al Saw, Chester Hansen, and Leland Witty The trio was eager to get back into the studio to create.The project was a collaborative effort that included Bad Bad Not Good touring member Felix Fox-Pappas (key), as well as Toronto jazz musicians such as Kaelin Murphy (tp), Juan Carlos Medrano Magallanes (perc), and L.A. musician Tyler Lott (g). The result is "Mid Spiral", a collection of jazz and jazz-inspired compositions that are the result of a week of intensive and creative recording at Valentine Studios in Los Angeles in February of 2024. The result is Mid Spiral. Mid Spiral has instrumental jazz at its core and allows Bad Bad Not Good to continue to push the limits of integrating endless genres and musicalities into their compositions. As the three of them examined weeks' worth of material, three distinct moods emerged: chaos, order, and growth. Chaos, Order, and Growth.Bad Bad Not Good has been working steadily since the release of their acclaimed album, Talk Memory, in late 2021. The alternative jazz ensemble earned its fifth Grammy nomination (for Best Remix Recording) for its remix of the turnstyle "Alien Love Call" from New Heart Designs. This past January, he released "Take What's Given," featuring up-and-coming Houston vocalist Reggie. The group's music has been featured on "Sleeper" by Charlotte Day Wilson, "MiNt cHoCoLaTe" by the music collective 88rising, 1999 WRITE THE FUTURE, Westside Gun, Conway the Machine, "the ordinary is ordinary because it ordinarily repeats" with collaborators such as Jonah Jano.In addition, Bad Bad Not Good participated in Daniel Caesar's 2023 album Never Enough, performing an edit of the single "Marking My Time" with up-and-coming artist Elmine. For the Talking Heads tribute album Everyone's Getting Involved: A Tribute to Talking Head's Stop Making Sense, he performed with Norah Jones on "This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody)" with Norah Jones. The domestic CD will include a commentary and a set with a limited number of T-shirts.
