Big Thief's 2016 debut album "Masterpiece" has been reissued by 4AD. This is the first release from 4AD and includes fan favorites "Paul," "Real Love," and the title track "Masterpiece," all remastered and reissued. The album was recorded in July 2015 in an old house on Lake Champlain that was converted into a studio with producer Andrew Sarlo and engineer James Krivchenia (who later became an official member of Big Thief). Big Thief's debut album was a masterful work of art, with songs that unfolded in a few words while various characters and delicate stories were told. Adrian's voice and guitar playing cruise through emotionally mellow territory with grace and keen insight. In her own words, the album is "a masterpiece of existence, an attempt to awaken oneself and shake off numbness, either by shutting oneself in or trying to connect with others. The interpretation may be impressionistic or surrealistic, but it is all based on something simple."...this is the crystallization of what Big Thief fan Sharon Van Etten calls "a true journey with an intelligent story and a melody with a twist.
