MONO, Japan's world-class instrumental rock band, celebrates 25th anniversary with "Forever Home: Live in Japan with Orchestra PITREZA Recorded the band's first orchestral performance in Japan in 15 years. When MONO first conceived the idea of performing live with an orchestra, it seemed like a one-time dream. It seemed like a dream that could only be realized under special conditions, with many like-minded collaborators, and with a tremendous amount of luck. The challenge, which took place just at the 10-year mark of their career, was their most ambitious attempt to date. Flying out of their native Japan, and ironically at the time more highly acclaimed and successful in the US and Europe than in Japan, they landed in New York, assembled an orchestra, secured a historic venue near Lincoln Center, and risked themselves to create a truly memorable evening. The performance was a huge success, and since then, performing with an orchestra has been a defining element of MONO's identity. Since that magical night in 2009, MONO has performed more than 36 concerts around the world with a wide variety of orchestras, bringing its music to nearly as many countries. However, after a long hiatus from similar performances in Japan, MONO finally returns to its hometown in November 2024 for its first orchestral performance in nearly 15 years, as its story-filled career reaches its quarter-century mark. Forever Home: Live in Japan with Orchestra PITREZA" is a celebration of MONO's 25th Anniversary "OATH" Orchestral World Tour," the culmination of a 20-concert tour in Europe, Asia, and the US in late 2024. Recorded in front of a packed house at Spotify O-EAST in Tokyo, the film documents MONO performing their latest album "OATH" in its entirety with orchestra director and longtime collaborator Chad McCullough accompanied by a 12-piece orchestra (Japan's Oakesutora Pitreza). The concert, which lasts approximately 100 minutes, concludes with two of the band's signature songs, "Ashes in the Snow" and "Everlasting Light," and pays homage to their first orchestral performance in New York City 15 years ago. Recorded and mixed by longtime touring sound engineer Matt Cook. The symphonic arrangements and the profound sound world of MONO are fused together to create an "endless ocean" experience for one night in Tokyo. The physical format will also be a luxurious specification befitting the scale of the work. Designed by longtime art director/collaborator Jeremy deVine, the double CD set features a quadruple gatefold format and includes a Blu-ray of the full HD concert film directed by Yusaki Mitsuwaka. The stunning cinematography of multiple cameras perfectly captures the MONO live experience. The three-LP set comes in two versions: high-quality black vinyl and limited edition color vinyl, and both CD and LP formats come with a 28-page full-color archival photobook by live photographer Teppei Kishida, who documented the concert.
