Analog Africa, a German label specializing in reissues of rare groove recordings from all over Africa made in the 1970s and 1980s, has released a compilation of recordings from 1973 to 1984 on the legendary Ghanaian record label Essiebons. compilation from 1973 to 1984 on the legendary Ghanaian record label Essie Bonds. Known for its strength in highlife, Afrobeat, and Afrofunk, the mid-70s and 80s were a golden age for the label. Among the artists who represented Essie Bones during this period were C.K. Mann, a major figure in the Ghanaian highlife scene alongside E.T. Mencer; Jedburay Amboree, a leading figure in funky highlife; Kofi Papa Janson, one of the greatest singers in the highlife scene; and the unique The list includes Ernest Honey with his unique use of keyboards and synths, Rob (Roy Reindorf) with his J.B.-like funk groove, and Ghanaian music legend, Ebbo Taylor.
