Stereo recordings made by ORTF, courtesy of the Institut National de Recherche en Audio-Visuelle, in stereo for radio broadcasting, including some of the earliest and most valuable recordings! Saint-Saens by Erry, Rachmaninoff by Fournier, and Ravel by Fevrier! The ORTF (Orchestre de Radio France) established stereo recording technology in 1959, and this album includes Jacques Fevrier's Ravel Concerto for left hand (January 1960), Deuvi Elly's Saint-Saëns "Habanera" and "Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso" (December 1966), and Pierre Fournier's Rachmaninoff Cello Concerto for left hand (December 1966), all of which are rare and valuable crystals of the ORTF's technology. Rachmaninoff's Cello Sonata (March 1980). This is a notable release from Spectrum Sound's popular "Bellarm" series, which is being made available on disc under license from the French National Audiovisual Institute (INA)! Duvy Elly's Saint-Saëns sings freely without superlative technique. The lustrous and beautiful sound is unique to Erry. Pierre Fournier's Rachmaninoff with his son, Jean Fonda, is a slow and deliberate performance. This is a precious record of the masterful performance by Fournier in 1980.Jacques Fevrier is a pianist who specializes in Ravel's works. The French premiere of his Piano Concerto for the Left Hand is his 18th, composer-approved work, which he has been selected by Ravel to perform. He will give a masterful performance with the Orchestre National de Radio France led by Manuel Rosenthal. Japanese commentary is not included. King International
