Description:

The ultimate in lyricism, dazzling imagination. Dense passion and fertile sensual beauty. A monumental live performance by a solitary young prodigy! A sensational debut as a child prodigy pianist. Konstantin Lifshitz's new album is a live recording of a recital he gave in Tokyo in February 2006. His unconventional style of performing while wearing a Japanese haori coat has attracted a lot of attention, and his performance is unique in its own right. Tchaikovsky's "The Four Seasons" shed new light on the work through his pianistic approach, Prokofiev's keen sense shone through, and Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition" took the audience by surprise with its unprecedentedly intense expression. The Asahi Shimbun newspaper's review of the concert praised Lifshitz's "haori" as "an aesthetics of rapid succession" (by Mr. Toshihide Katayama). Konstantin Lifshitz was born in 1976 in Ukraine, and studied at the Gnesin Special Music School in Moscow under the famous professor Tatiana Zelikman from the age of five.He made his Moscow debut at the age of 13, was selected as a member of the "New Names" of the Russian Cultural Foundation, and began performing at home and abroad. She achieved sensational success in Italy, Germany, and other countries. In 2006, she made her debut at the Salzburg Festival. He has performed chamber music with Kremer, Vengerov, Harrell, Maisky, and the Thalich Quartet. He has performed with conductors such as Spivakov, Temirkanov, Haitink, Marriner, Norrington, Inbal, Rostropovich, etc. A CD he recorded at the age of 13 won the German Echo Classics Best Newcomer Award in 1995, and his 1994 recording of "J.S. Bach: Goltberg Variations" (DENON) won the 1996 U.S. Grammy Award. His recording of "J.S. Bach: Goltberg Variations" (DENON) was nominated for a Grammy Award in 1996, and he has also received high acclaim for his recordings. [Comments courtesy of Wakabayashi Studio.]
