Irina played with a slow, deliberate pace, as if she were stepping onto Russian soil. The slow tempo and deeply sculpted playing revealed how avant-garde "Pictures at an Exhibition" was, and one could almost feel as if one were reliving the amazement of the audience at the time. The performance is so profound and high-tension that it is hard to imagine from the slender and elegant appearance, and it is the opposite of the smart and brilliant music of Ravel's orchestral arrangements. There is an objectivity that tries to be faithful to the work (score), and a sense of urgency that seems to compel him not to expose his musical feelings, which are just about to spill out, and the two coexist without contradiction, radiating strong persuasive power. This is a performance that makes one want to straighten one's collar and listen to it with all one's might. This is the first live album by Irina Medjieva, who has been actively recording her own music. The program is centered on Chopin and Mussorgsky. The most notable work is Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition".The fresh interpretations created from a deep reading of the score and rich imagination have succeeded in shedding new light on this masterpiece. The huge scale and high tension of the live performance are also overwhelming. The encore performance of Metonel and Chopin also conveys the atmosphere of the concert well. The booklet includes an essay by Irina herself.
