Julian Baker, one of the most popular SSWs representing US indie music, whose voice and appearance captivate the hearts of listeners upon first listen, has released his long-awaited third album after a four-year absence! Recorded in Baker's hometown of Memphis, Tennessee between December 2019 and January 2020, the album retains Baker's voice, pleasant guitar and piano playing, and adds new instruments such as bass, drums, synthesizer, banjo and mandolin, almost all played by Baker himself. The addition of new instruments such as bass, drums, synthesizers, banjo, and mandolin, all played by the artist himself, breaks new ground. The album features the opener "Hardline," which announces the start of a new chapter on a high note, the uplifting single "Faith Healer," the chilling "Ringside," with its power chords cloaked in faint noise, and a song featuring Phoebe Bridgers, a close friend who also works with the Boy Geniuses, and Lucy Duckas, who plays on the album with the band. The album features 12 tracks, including "Favor," a song featuring Lucy Duckas, and "Song in E," a song with a deep piano voice.As on the previous release, the album was engineered by Calvin Lauber and mixed by Craig Silvey (The National, Florence and the Machine, Arcade Fire). The Japanese CD version of this album includes the bonus track "Guthrie" and comes with a bilingual lyricist's guide and commentary. This product will be released simultaneously around the world and will be available for purchase on Friday, so please note that it will be delivered on or after the release date.
