This is a very rare live recording featuring The Delfonics, The Ambassadors, Five Stair Steps, The Intruders and Billy Stewart! Jimmy Bishop was a popular DJ and program director at Philadelphia radio station WDAS (transferred from St. Louis radio station), and his influence on record production (songwriting, producing, etc.) was also important in the early days of Philly Soul with Kenny Gamble & Leon Huff, Tom Bell and others. He is also known as an important figure in the Philly Soul scene from its early days. The record company Arctic (distributed by Jamie/Guyden), which Jimmy started in 1964 in this area, later became the home of production staff and musicians (also connected to MFSB) active in the Philly Soul scene, and Gamble and Huff also wrote various songs for Arctic and released their own records. Gamble and Huff also wrote various songs and released their own records on Arctic, a label that would later become a bonding point for Gamble & Huff. This live recording was released in 1967. The album "Jimmy Bishop On Stage Live at the Nixson Theater" was released in the U.S., and although it did not sell well, it made its way to Japan, although I am not sure what route it took.The most treasured (for me) is that we can listen to two live recordings of the Delfonics before they broke through.
