This is a collection of Walter Becker and Donald Fagen's treasured recordings that were suddenly released in 1983, the year Steely Dan became a big artist. The contents were recorded between 1968 and 1971, when the two worked as staff writers for Kenny Vance (Jay and the Americans). The early versions of "Brooklyn," "The Man from Barrytown," and "Parker's Band," which were later released as Steely Dan, and "Soul Lamb," which led to Steely Dan's naming of the group, are among the rare recordings that are now back in the public eye. Includes 15 bonus tracks. Paper jacket based on the original U.S. LP. First CD release in Japan.
