Description:
The Copenhagen Philharmonic and Gringolts present a collection of two violin concertos by Adams and Korngold. Although Adams' work was written in 1993, it is a decadent work that sounds like late 19th-century music, and the program evokes a strange coincidence with Korngold's concerto, which was born out of Hollywood film music. Adams' concerto, which is at times minimalist in style, at other times weaves an endless stream of sound like Berg's concerto, and throughout the entire work, there is a cool atmosphere. In the Korngold, which demands a gorgeous sound that makes full use of the orchestra's capabilities, Gringolz's lustrous tone was on full display, especially in the middle section of the second movement, "Romance," where he interacts with the orchestra while making full use of prodigal weak notes, which is dreamily beautiful. The accompaniment by the much-talked-about conductor Rouvali and Salemcourt, who specializes in opera, is also a treat to listen to. Naxos Japan
