The performances of young pianist Mao Fujita, who will turn 15 in 2013, have finally been released on CD. Recorded in 2011 (Hekinan City Arts Hall, Aichi Prefecture) and 2013 (Church of Jesus Christ in Berlin), both by Eberhard Hinz, the recording engineer, Fujita won the Grand Prix at the 19th Japan Music Competition in 2009, the first prize in the senior section of the "World Classics 2010," and the first prize in the national competition. In 2010, they dominated the 64th All Japan Music Competition for Students, winning first prize in the elementary school division in Tokyo and first prize in the national competition. Since then, she has performed with the Kanagawa Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Shigeo Genda, the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra conducted by Norichika Iimori, and the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra conducted by Naoto Otomo, etc. In August 2012, she won a prize at the 13th Ettlingen International Competition (Germany), and in August 2013, she won the first prize at the 5th Rosario Marciano International Piano Competition held in Vienna. This CD is an impressive debut album that showcases Mao Fujita's diverse approach to classical and modern Russian music, as well as works by Japanese composers. <Mao Fujita began playing the piano at the age of three, studying under Yuka Matsuyama and Hajime Matsuyama.In 2009, he won the Grand Prix at the 19th Japan Classical Music Competition. In the same year, she represented Japan at the World Classical Music Competition 2010 in Taiwan, winning first prize in the junior division. 2010, she won first prize in the elementary division of the 64th All Japan Student Music Competition in Tokyo and first prize in the national competition. She also received the Nomura Prize, the Aiko Iguchi Prize, the Music Encouragement Prize, and the Yokohama Citizens' Prize (audience prize).
