West Coast jazz produced by Japanese hands in the early 1980s. ATLAS Reocrd, a nostalgic reissue of ATLAS Reocrd, has been released by Skip Records. This is the fourth installment. Milt Jackson and Lionel Hampton are well-known as vibraphonists, but among white players, Red Novo and Terry Gibbs of this album are the most comfortable swinging vibes players. He has recorded with many famous players in the U.S., but is one of the few players in Japan. I have known him for a long time, and he was one of the players I had wanted to record for a long time. Fortunately, in May 1981, Terry Gibbs showed up at the studio of "Hollywood Jam," which was recorded with Shelleyman as the leader, and I immediately proposed a recording project, which was realized. Gibbs, who is famous for his sharp vibe playing, accepted the proposal with open arms, and he decided on all the music selections, which led to the recording in Hollywood in January 1982. The only thing that the producer wanted was to add a guitar to the lineup. The only thing the producer wanted to do was to add a guitarist to the band. (Excerpt from the liner notes)
