Description:

The first compilation to explore the enigmatic house recording outsiders Maplefish. Here we will experience a dream pop daydream world where Wall of Sound, Joe Meek, Galaxy 500, Doji Morita, acid folk, surf & hot rods, and 60s psychedelic sounds cohabit. Maplefish is a true expression of D.I.Y home recording, fascinated by 60s pop music and creating music with a 4-track cassette MTR in Miyazaki in the 90s. This first compilation, "You're Coming and Going Away," is a compilation of Maplefish's first LP "Mariko" and second LP "Dokitto Station!" which were independently released in 1995. The new album, "Kimi ga Dokitto Station! Dokitto Station! is a collection of works that sum up the recording experiments of early Maplefish. The bedroom-pop textures that emerged from the process of trying to create these sounds with multiple recordings on a cassette MTR, while taking its roots in the surfing, hot rod, and girl sounds of the 60s, bring a scene where floating spacewalkers and sun-drenched surfers cohabit, creating a unique sound that is anything but straightforward. It is a unique sound. Mariko" is a total concept album inspired by a poem submitted to a comic magazine in the 1990s, and was produced by adding music to the poem. It is a musical expression of the world of lyrical poems that question the relationship with illusion, using the technique of multiple recordings developed during the period of "Dokitto". The music has a timeless universality, with an acid-folk-like introspection, neutral voices buried in a wall of overdubbed sound, and a sound orientation derived from 60s pop music, all brought to fruition via a cassette MTR. The 90s daydream pop music fostered because it is unexplored territory, not fueled by the scene or the times. ---- Maplefish's own commentary on the work, which provides clues to solving its mysteries, is a must-read!
