Description:
The famous violinist and conductor Simon Goldberg (1909-1993) was recruited by Furtwängler to become the concertmaster of the Berlin Philharmonic at the age of 20, which shows how precocious a genius he was. He was already concertmaster of the Dresden Philharmonic at the age of 16. In 1955, he organized the Holland Chamber Orchestra, which gave concerts all over the world. In 1967, he came to Japan for the second time with the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, and in 1987, at the invitation of Toho Gakuen School of Music, he came to Japan to teach the orchestra. He married pianist Miyoko Yamane in 1988, and in 1990 he conducted the New Japan Philharmonic for the first time, later becoming its conductor.Although he is widely known for his famous recordings of Mozart and Beethoven violin sonatas with Lily Krauss in the 1930s, and later recorded Mozart with Radu Lupu, Goldberg himself was not originally averse to recordings, but rather denied recording himself. Goldberg himself was not originally averse to recordings, but rather he was averse to the idea of recording. Coincidentally, we have discovered and are able to release a recording of his last performance (five months before his death) with the New Japan Philharmonic from the archives of the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Space. Please enjoy the last testimony of a rigorous musician who could be called an apostle of music. Tokyo Metropolitan Art Space Archive Series. This is the last performance with the New Japan Philharmonic with whom he has a great chemistry. The conductor, who comes from a string orchestra background, has a strict eye for every detail. The New Japan Philharmonic's strings are also well known and well worth listening to. The lyricism and joy of Schubert's music is simply heartwarming. Goldberg, who was a great admirer of Furtwängler, gave a superb performance of Schumann.Of course, unlike Furtwängler, the style of this piece differs from Furtwängler's, showing a crisp, tight, and fearless form, but the heat of the music still has a strong influence on him. After this concert, he made a guest appearance with the Mito Chamber Orchestra in April, and it seems that this was the last concert of his life. Tobu Land System
