Description:
The most famous performance by Neumann and the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. The two masterpieces by Janacek are coupled with the fantastic Violin Concerto, and are now available on SACD for the first time with ORT mastering! The latest mastering brings back to life this masterful recording and performance! Janacek's masterpiece, which the Neumann-Czech Philharmonic Orchestra has in its own medicine cabinet. The beautiful performance by Suk of Janacek's unfinished Violin Concerto, restored in 1988, is also a must-see. This is the first SACD release with high-resolution recording using ORT mastering technology originally developed by Nippon Columbia. The CD layer also uses this mastered sound source, coupling the two pieces from the original album, "Sinfonietta" and "Taras Bouliba," recorded in 1982, with the "Violin Concerto" from 1989 (the original Dvořák piano concerto, which is not included on the CD). ), Neumann and the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra have brought together three of Janacek's orchestral works on one disc, including his two major orchestral works. The "Sinfonietta," one of Janacek's most famous works and a work of epic scale, is especially noteworthy from an audio standpoint. This piece is suitable for SACD, which excels at reproduction with a wide dynamic range and precision. The recordings from this period, when the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra had many great players who were part of its golden age, are of particular interest. The ensemble is led by Miroslav Kaymal, the face of the Czech Philharmonic, who joined the orchestra in 1970 and served as its principal trumpet. The Czech Philharmonic's unique brilliant yet warm tone is especially well demonstrated on the SACD. The addition of the horn parts by the Tirshal brothers, Zdenek and Bedřich, make this a truly representative recording of the piece. The other orchestral piece, "Taras Bouliba," is also a charming piece, with its emotional singing, which is typical of the country, and Neumann's sensitive expression is also appealing. The violin concerto entitled "Wandering of the Soul" was originally an unfinished work, reconstructed in the late 1980s, and premiered in 1988. It was first recorded the following year by Suk, and has been recorded by several violinists since then, but the recordings themselves are not very numerous. It is an attractive piece with Janacek's typical colorfulness in a short work.
