Description:
This rare violinist, who celebrates the 60th anniversary of his performing career in 2022 and his 80th birthday in 2023, made a big splash in February 2025 with the release of Beethoven's 10 complete violin sonatas, and now, surprisingly, only a year later, he will follow Beethoven's lead with a collection of three violin sonatas by Johannes Brahms, one of the "three B" German composers. Surprisingly, after only a year's interval, the company has now released the complete set of three violin sonatas by Johannes Brahms, one of the "three great B" composers of Germany, following Beethoven. Maebashi had recorded only "No. 3" in the past, but this is his first recording of No. 1, subtitled "Song of Rain," and No. 2, with its lovely romantic brightness. The re-recording of No. 3, with its melancholy intensity, is even more melancholy and intense. This time, the orchestra is once again partnered by Vahan Mardirossian, a native of Armenia, with whom the orchestra has worked so well together on Beethoven's complete sonata cycle. The two have trusted each other's artistry through repeated performances and recordings, and they will spend ample time together in the summer of 2025 for this session recording. (C)RS
