[Herbert von Karajan, a great conductor who reigned over the classical music world in the 20th century with his outstanding musicality and charisma. From the "Karajan's Legacy" series, which Karajan worked on energetically in his later years in the 1980s, this is a live performance of the Berlin Philharmonic's 100th anniversary concert held on April 30, 1982 at the Philharmonie in Berlin, Karajan's home base. In this live performance of the "Heroes" symphony, which is different from the complete Beethoven cycle that Karajan devoted most of his energy to completing in his later years, he conducts the orchestra with fearlessness and freshness, showing no signs of his age at all. Unlike the studio recording, the performance in front of a packed audience is a historic masterpiece, with Karajan's concentration and the orchestra's overwhelming expressive power united under the baton of his wholehearted devotion to Beethoven, giving a sense of maturity.
