Ray Charles, a gifted soul singer who passed away in 2004. Ray Sings, Basie Swings" (currently unavailable), which was released in 2006 as part of the "Genius Series" along with the posthumous "Genius & Friend", has been reissued in Japanese! Originally recorded in 1973 as Ray Charles with Count Basie, the album features a selection of the best songs from the 1973 concert, once again backed by the modern Count Basie Orchestra. Patti Austin also joined as a member of the Raylettes, and the undeniably gifted soul singer Ray Charles, who passed away in 2004, was also featured on this album.The posthumous Grammy-winning "Genius Loves Company (2004)", "Genius & Friend (2005)" and "Rare Genius: The Undiscovered Masters (2010)" were released as part of the "Genius Series" in 2006, and "Ray Sings, Basie Swings" (reissued in 2022 on Ray's own label, Tangerine Records, but currently unavailable in Japan) has been re-released in Japanese edition! The original recording was made in 1973 as "Ray Charles with Count Basie" concert, and it is a pseudo collaboration mixing Ray's own previously unreleased vocal performance of selected masterpieces from the concert and newly recorded instrumental tracks by the modern Count Basie Orchestra. Patti Austin also joins the Wraiths on the album. The latest recording technology has brought back to life such classic songs as "Georgia in My Heart" and "I Can't Help Loving You"!
