First time out! Stokowski's only collaboration with the Yomiuri Symphony Orchestra! Intense Beethoven that no one can imitate. This is a very rare and precious item. In 1965, Stokowski made his first and last visit to Japan, but while planning the concert, a double contract dispute between the Yomiuri Symphony Orchestra and the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra broke out. After many twists and turns, Stokowski performed only one piece with the Yomiuri Symphony Orchestra, "Viet 7". For more details, please refer to the interview with Mr. Yoshiyuki Fujita in the booklet. The booklet also includes the program of the concert, which is a good source of information. The performance was superb, as one would expect. The Yomiuri Symphony Orchestra's underlying power knocked us out. First of all, the unique arrangement of Stokowski's music caught the attention of the audience. The woodwinds are doubled, with four players each on the right side. The brass is in the center. The violins and violas are lined up from left to right, and the cellos and double basses are lined up in a row at the end of the stage. The visual and acoustic effects must have been very strong. The music was huge, with large amplitudes and deep, thick tones, but it was also very rewarding to listen to, with a style that avoided repetition and dashed forward at a rapid pace.The one-point recording by recording master Shunsuke Wakabayashi gives a clear and distinct stereo effect, making a great impact on a single track.
