Description:
Led by Ashley Kozak, Donovan's manager, the group was formed in London in 1971 by former members of Grapefruit, Fat Mattress, and Cressida. Their first album, which was followed by a successful U.S. tour with The Byrds and Eagles the following year. This is a hidden masterpiece of UK soft rock, combining West Coast country rock with Beatles/Hollies-derived English harmony pop and a variety of approaches such as progressive rock, music hall, and trad. Later members of the band became Caravan and Savoy Brown. (C)RS
