Description:
The first self-released CD of Evanfro, a male/female duo consisting of William Reedy and Susan Smith (original release: 1980/Harmonic Tremor Records). ＜Evanfro is a male/female guitar and vocal duo consisting of William Reedy and Susan Smith. This is their only album released in the U.S. in 1980. The production is simple, centered around the guitars and vocals of the duo, but the music borrows from folk and singer/songwriter albums, adding jazz, classical, and even Latin flavors to create a completely original music. Throughout the album, there are many pleasant acoustic numbers with jazzy nuances with a Latin flavor. The percussive high notes characteristic of nylon strings and the delicate piano-like touches and nuances create an invigorating openness like a fresh morning with natural melodies. Conga and flute gently tease such guitar[1].In the following [2], Susan replaces Reedy on lead vocals, and in [3], Susan backs Reedy on lead vocals. The blend of each singer's individuality reveals a different charm. While many of the songs are lighthearted, Susan takes the lead on [6], which has a bewitchingly different acidic flavor. The waltz-like [8], one of the highlights of the album, features guitar by John Stowell, a jazz guitar virtuoso who is also known for his work with David Friesen (bass). William currently operates a recording studio called "Acoustic Chambers" in the hills of East Hill, Washington, and continues to be active in the local scene.
