Description:
The original release of "Joe & Bing" was produced by the mega-rare Deodato and is also known for their first album "Daybreak" from 1971. This is the long-awaited first CD release of "Joe & Bing" (1976), the second album by Joseph "Joe" Knowlton and William "Bing" Bingham on the RCA label. The album was backed by Don Kershner and produced by Jay Siegel, Mitch Margo, and Phil Margo, three members of the Tokens, a doo-wop vocal group from Brooklyn known for their hit "The Lion is Sleeping" (1961), which was released in 1973 as Cross Country in 1973), who released their only prototype album under the name Cross Country. Supporting Joe & Bing on acoustic guitar/vocals are Elliot Randall (g), Will Lee (b), Jay Leonhardt (b), Steve Gadd (ds), David Sanborn (sax), Eric Weisberg (pedal steel,) fidle), Jim Marren (perc), and others.The sense of saudade that characterized the first album has receded, but the album is still a well-made pop vocal album with modern vocal arrangements directly from Tokens.
