Korero, the sister of the beast king Kirinmaru, who is believed to be involved with the dream butterfly, sees the half-demon who was prophesied to defeat her brother as an enemy and plots to defeat Towa and Setsuna. Towa and Setsuna are half-demon girls, whose father is the great demon Koroshimaru and whose mother is the human Rin. Moroha, who joins Towa and her friends, is also a quarter-demon, born of a half-demon and a human, and is the daughter of Inuyasha and Kagome. Korero had been after the lives of the three since the birth of Towa and Kagome, but Towa was sent to the present day, Setsuna went to live in a half-demon village, and Moroha survived under the protection of the Yorozoku tribe. Inuyasha and Kagome had been caught up in a battle with Kirinmaru fourteen years earlier and had been sent to the tomb of the Inu no Taisho (father of Kayomaru and Inuyasha), hidden in the Black Pearl.
